Rain’s Chant Subtitle: Piano Solo Last Rain Ⅵ in B- flat Yu OP. 1. The sixth track from my piano solo album, “Last Rain, Op. 1,” is a piece in the B- flat Dorian mode, with a lyrical and soaring theme that seeks to evoke the evocative atmosphere of rain. To underscore the theme and evoke a traditional Chinese aesthetic, the introduction employs grace notes and arpeggiated block chords to imbue the music with a sense of ethereal lightness. Throughout the melodic development, the repetition of harmonic progressions and the smoothness of the musical phrases are consistently maintained, while overly intense harmonies and melodies are avoided, creating an effect akin to a repeated chant. In the writing of the cadential phrase, the left hand not only employs sustained arpeggios as an accompanying texture but also melodicizes them, supporting the development of the right?hand melody. At the same time, a crisp, percussive electronic drum loop is introduced to enrich the groove and enhance the sense of cinematic imagery.
