Hi
new member, just got automatic bounce on my song…
Your uploaded item “[del][Automator:Certifications wrong file type]Hello Darkness Emotional Piano& Strings” was declined.
I have gone over all, its a zip with about 5 .wav files 44.1 16bit, and the certification is a screenshot I took and made a zip of.
This would not be such a hassle to try again except this refusal has eliminated my song from system, that means I have to do everything again. I kind of want to avoid having to do that many times, so is there any advice here?
02/19/2019 03:16 #943388I had an auto decline, because I accidentally uploaded a rar file instead of .zip file for my certification.
What are you using to make the zip file?
02/19/2019 03:20 #943389Hiya, I think I found out the problem. I had not understood this vertification stuff, did only include a screenshot. Not in my wildest dreams did I expect thsy a midi file from the project was also needed.
02/19/2019 03:23 #943391heh.. I was going to mention a midi file was needed but assumed you had read about that..
always read the fine print my good man, always 😉
but yes, a MIDI file is important since anyone can make a dummy looking screenshot for a track.. MIDI is required to verify that you’re actually the composer.. and not for example some audio guy who has access to audio files (like a student in a uni or something).
most places require strict copyright laws thanks to the amount of bad things going on these days.
02/19/2019 03:33 #943395Yup, shame on me…. BTW is this hassle worth it for this site?
02/19/2019 03:59 #943407I only just signed up a few weeks ago.
As for hassle, I didn’t find it much of a hassle, compared to say, Envato, who systemically decline works to keep their current authors happy, and take a massive chunk of earnings and tax. And all the music libraries I contacted didn’t even bother to answer my email(s).. so if you have other outlets which make this place seem not worth it, that’s your call really.
02/19/2019 04:28 #943412yes, envato seems to be really going a bad path, now people are almost paying them for selling their tracks, cause the price is so low. And then there is this new subscription system. New members have a really hard time getting in there, as with pond5.
I have had some luck with libraries, but also that is a hard game, you really cant know if things are being used or not. I got some (maybe spam) message about this site and wanted to try it out. Many things I like that Ive seen. This upload hassle is bothersome, cause the error makes my submission vanish, so I need to do everything again 🙁
02/19/2019 11:33 #943554Hi SteinThor,
Or you just need to upload the midi file and the audio file of a single main melody instrument as a proof file.
Hope that helps.02/19/2019 16:31 #943725I was with Envato in the early days, and even then there was systematic bias.. They only took a small portion of my work since they basically didn’t want any competition for their main earning authors, which I found rather poor taste. I tried again a few years later and it took them 3 weeks to review my work and they rejected it all (a lot of it was broadcast quality film score stuff!), and when I asked for an explanation, a poorly written excuse was given… I was half tempted to get other composers to file a lawsuit but decided it’s not worth it, and their behavior will catch up with them sooner or later… especially since they were doing shady things regarding taxes.
I’ve done library work in the past, I used to get emailed by them actually, now, ironically, they won’t even bother to read my emails. The upload hassle is really to protect everyone here, not to mention you and your music, I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve been ripped off from people stealing the audio of my works from Soundcloud & YouTube…
02/19/2019 17:17 #943796Yes, this world is kind of hard, and not getting easier. I get about 25% of my tracks rejected on AJ, sometimes I think, ok probably right, other times just WTF. The review time there is now 2 weeks, so getting rejections after two weeks is of course not nice. And only 5 tracks at a time.
The site is overflowed probably, but Ive had some ok sales there for a starter.
My biggest success is recently getting into a relatively big trailer house, and most of my time go into that. There is a custom section in there, making music on request, and so I post what is not used on these sites now and older tracks that I mix/master again, with better ears, and better software.
I see this forum for example, is really quiet. Are you getting any sales on the site. My thought is that this here might be a bit like AJ in the beginning, and maybe good to grow a presence on these early days.
02/20/2019 17:34 #944517Hey.
I became an author just before the Chinese New Year. I uploaded 63 tracks. 26 of them has been aprooved before the holiday. Now it seems that holiday time is over. My tracks are being reviewed again. And ı made a sale this morning. So ı have a hope for this site.
For uploading process, you can upload the audio file of a solo instrument in your track (which i did) instead of a midi file.
Hope it helps.
02/20/2019 17:39 #944522Hiya, thank you for that info…
seems all is going fine after I started uploading midi files, no tracks live yet, so maybe something will stop then, but at least Im getting trough the automatic process.
02/23/2019 06:07 #946303I think it’s still early days here, but it looks promising, so fingers crossed.
I have worked with trailer house places, but most now have moved onto working with the AAA list so they don’t need me anymore lol.
My stuff is slowly going live, no sales yet but I wouldn’t expect any so soon either.
