The musical atmosphere consists of three paragraphs, corresponding to three scenes:
1. The prelude of the guitar and the sound of the wind outline the lonely homesickness of the soldiers guarding the border;
2. Suddenly, the war drum sounded like an enemy soldier pressing on the border. Without giving the soldiers a chance to breathe, they would start fighting. The entry of brass and string music creates the feeling that although the war situation is urgent, the garrison soldiers are not disorderly and calmly facing the danger;
3. After slowing down, it turns to the combination of harp and Cuan. The harp is more quiet and sweet in tone, which is more suitable for creating the feeling of silence between heaven and earth after the war. It seems to say that although the end of this war has brought short peace, the next war will come at an unknown moment, and the soldiers guarding the border will continue to guard this border land.
这首音乐分为三个段落，分别对应是三个场景：
1、吉他的前奏与埙伴随着风声勾勒出戍边将士的寂寞孤独的思乡之情；
2、突然间战鼓号角响起，犹如敌军大兵压境，不给士兵喘息之机便要开始作战。铜管与弦乐的进入营造出虽然战况紧急，但是戍边将士临危不乱从容应战的感觉；
3、渐慢后转入到由竖琴配合埙的组合，竖琴在音色上更加宁静甜美，更适合营造出大战之后天地间万籁俱寂的感觉。彷佛在诉说，虽然这场战争结束带来了短暂的安宁，但是下一场战争又会不知哪一刻来临，戍边的将士还要继续守卫着这一方边疆土地。
