Hi authors,
I’m JaNaeo, a member of the Support department in 100Audio, recently, there was a prosecution on THE BIG BAND 2, One of the most-watched music Reality TV Program of the season in China, for Background music infringement. This event took place on Weibo, a Chinese social media site, and has caused some public concern in China. After saw everything that took place between Vfine and their Non-Exclusive author, I decided that discuss this event in my own name with every author who is concerned about it.
The whole story is (Here’re the Final results of it: https://m.weibo.cn/6174606644/4540370933521888 https://m.weibo.cn/6575279131/4540369632506460 https://m.weibo.cn/5886169814/4540304701523052):
The author Han Peng find his track was used by THE BIG BAND 2 without his knowledge, so his team issued a statement to prosecute this TV program on Weibo, after a few days, Vfine posted the proclamation to explain that: It’s a misunderstanding, TV Program have bought this track on Vfine and the reason that author Han hasn’t received any news is caused by deferral of information.

In reality it’s a weak argument, because the author’s team said ‘no one contact with us’ then issued the statement helplessly. It seems that author Han not only hasn’t received the information but even more. As time goes by, the technology of music platforms has progressed tremendously, also, 100Audio have improved the function of sending E-mail several times(Authors would receive messages on the inbox of E-mail without delay when every order comes, and the system would settle commission to the relevant accounts automatically), so it’s impossible for a music platform that their authors haven’t got any news until the show went on the air! Because THE BIG BAND 2 is a recording TV program, there is generally a preparatory period about more than 2 weeks or more for shooting, producing, apply for review, etc. But, indeed, it happened in Vfine that the author was not informed,if they blame this event on deferral before 5 years, it might be pardonable. It puzzles me a lot, the Technology of distributing commission automatically is easy to realize and efficient, do they still distribute commission manually by Excel? It’s unfair to authors on that site, actions not transparent kept authors in the dark all the time.
I Hope that all platforms could comply with the basic principles of the industry. All authors in this industry need sincerity but not wits.
What do you think of it, leave your opinions and let me know!
Best regards,
JaNaeo
10/12/2020 15:15 #2072439The licensing information is available to get back on 100Audio. As far as I know, when customers voluntarily write Enterprise Names and Purpose back, the mail of licensing information would be sent to authors immediately and automatically by the system, but this function only aims at Chinese authors at present, because the language of the most of licensing information, which written by customers, is in Chinese. Maybe the site you said had a similar model of settle commission with vfine. It can be said an immature model to facing everyone.
